Shoegazer Fashion: Abstract prints

This season I am in love with abstract / smudge print garments. I can't put my finger on why exactly, but all I know is I can't get enough! Here are some images from various "look books" to illustrate my current fashion fad :)
Above: This outfit is from the Ermie look book and I just love the pairing of the bold, smudge-print skirt with the muted, delicate print grey top.
Above: These two outfits from the Wilfred look book are beautiful. The outfit on the right is definately a look I would wear for everyday activities. The smudge-print skirt features large, draped pockets at either side, making it practical and teaming it with a chunky knit cardi and opaque tights makes it perfect for this cold weather. WANT.
Above: This abstract print top is from the wonderful Anthropologie and is a garment I actually own :D The deliciously soft, cowl-neck top features twists of fabric (embellished with little bronze beads) that add unusual lines to the garment. The print reminds me somewhat of Alexander McQueen's famous animal/reptile print collection (see here for what I mean). Anyway, I love it.
Above & Below: These outfits are from a Something Else / Natalie Wood look book. I adored the whole look book but these two outfits to me look very wearable and really opitomise the style direction I wanted to go in this Winter.

What is your fashion-fad this season? Are you into abstract prints too? Or perhaps the camel trend? Or has something else caught your eye?... Please share :) x

Shoegazer Fashion: Sumtumn

Hello kittens! LOOK WHO'S BACK?! Sorry for the lengthy absense, things have been very busy and stressful at the magazine as we not only had the big September issue to put together but also a show-guide for the London show which takes place next week. Now most of that has died down a bit I can hopefully dive back into the beautiful world of blogging.
I've missed you!

It's that awkward time of year again (let's call it Sumtumn) when you still feel you really should be wearing summer clothes... but in reality, the weather's not that great. So, yours trully has been scouring the web (I say 'web', I mean Net A Porter) for outfit ideas to take me through the difficult Sumtumn period and into the blustery throws of Autumn. Here are some combos I particularly liked...
Kain t-shirt; Stella McCartney boots; Tibi coat
Marc by Marc Jacobs cardigan
Vivienne Westwood dress

D&G orchid skirt; Burberry boots
Lot78 jacket

Shoegazer Fashion Finds: Unique AW10 / Animal headwear

Time for something a little less 'realistic'. Today's second AW10 Fashion pick is Unique, who styled their collection with some whimsical animal headwear... which got me thinking, if you did want to recreate this look, what's out there to help you? So here, along with images of the Unique collection, are some Shoegazer Finds that fit with the theme.
Above: Mister Tumnuss IS Narnia's Next Top Model.
So, here are the finds I came across. Crimp your hair, stick these on your head and you're well away....
Above: This Racoon mask is from Captain Cat.
Above: Leather fox mask from teonova
Above: A simple antler headband, secured with elastic. From faerywhere
And finally... the obvious option:
Above: Dig out your novelty christmas antlers. Sorted.

Shoegazer Fashion: Anna Sui AW10

Todays first AW10 fashion pick is Anna Sui. As ever, I love her delicate dresses with pretty prints and on this occasion love how they are styled with thick, maybe even knitted tights and coats (I never knew I was such a stickler for practical/realistically wearable fashion). Also... HELLO JEWELLERY! I've noticed a distinct lack of jewellery so far (sad times for a jewellery lover)... so it's nice to see some necklaces going on here.

Let me know what you think of this collection. Please comment :)

Shoegazer Fashion: Marc by Marc Jacobs AW10

Looking at some of the collections from New York and London Fashion Weeks has left me pretty cold so far but I have spotted a few collections I like. Today's post is in tribute to Marc by Marc Jacobs (I know right, when will I get over it??) I view his collection as very flattering, wearable and realistic!

What do you think of this collection? Do you like it? Or maybe think it's too safe?
Please comment! :)
