It's that time of year again when Shoegazer embraces all things spooky in the name of Halloween. Above: I really really cannot wait until the Halloween Special of the brilliant Psychoville! Showing on Halloween night on the BBC and starring two of my favourite people, the League of Gentlemen's Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton. There are too few Halloween Specials around! Also on TV at the moment, on BBC4 is A History of Horror with Mark Gatiss (another member of TLoG) -a brilliant and informative watch.

Kate Bush - Get Out Of My House
(album: The Dreaming)

The one Kate Bush song I could never listen to in entirity as a child because it scared me. I think it's the combination of the deamonic belches of Kate Bush possessed by a donkey with the gut wrenching screams of "GET OUT OF MY HOUSE"... and the sly, devilish man whispering that he'll turn into the wind and get in no matter how much she shuts him out. Brrr, it makes me shudder just thinking of it. Hear it here.

Bauhaus - Bela Lugosi's Dead

A dark, brooding, gothic lament to the actor who lived and died as Dracular (literally, he was buried in his Dracular costume) by Bauhaus. Wait out the long intro to hear the haunting vocals. Hear it here.

The Cure - Lullaby

Oh Robert Smith, how perfect you are.... and how perfect the video for Lullaby is. It suits the song beautifully and is my all time favourite music video:

Design: Yum Yum

Yum Yum are London-based directors / designers Beth Algieri and Jonny Plummer. They are currently in the process of making vinyl toys of their characters, which I think are really fun! Jewellery: Babette

Mmm, jewellery.... how I love you. A little etsy browsing earlier today lead me to Babette. Run by a Central St Martins trained fashion designer now living in the US, Babette sells really beautiful pieces often involving gem-coloured garnetts. These hoop earrings (below) definately caught my eye! I love the colour tones used... from purple to peacock!

These garnett and adventure draped earrings (above) remind me of some very very old jewellery I saw in the British Museum recently - they have an air of being very equisite and old, yet are also very modern and wearable! I love them :)

Shoegazer Home: Vintage sci-fi and camera love

It was my birthday last month and my very good friends got me the perfect gift - this absolutely amazing vintage fold-out camera! I love it, and so do the Shoegazer robots . . .

You can't hear them, but those robots are cooing over that vintage technology as only robots can.

This camera is the perfect addition to my homeware collection as I plan to display a variety of quirky items like this when I eventually get my own place. It fits brilliantly with my theme of "English Eccentric with a vintage sci-fi twist"(...yeah it IS a theme. 'Cos I say so.)
