Shoegazer Haul: Fox brooch

I was lucky enough to get this sweet little fox brooch for Christmas from one of my best friends. It had been on my radar for a while but was a complete surprise when I got it as a present :) The face is made of painted polymer clay, whilst the ears and tail and corduroy and the whole thing is attached to antique-style brass setting. These were available on etsy from Helis, but the shop has since shut whilst the owner has a baby.

Shoegazer Visits: Lewes

This weekend I headed to Lewes for a good old rummage in the many lovely antique shops the little town boasts. As I've blogged about in the past, the shops are jam packed full of unusual antiques, vintage items and trinkets. I'll follow this post up with a haul post of some of the bits I bought, but for now here are some snaps I took as I was going round...

Shoegazer finds: Tuesday Treats!

Some little finds to brighten a dull and rainy Tuesday... firstly some second-glance jewellery from Locher's. I'm calling it "second-glace" jewellery because when you first see it, it looks quite cutesy and sweet... but just take a closer look....
Next up, you know I'm a sucker for foxes... this simple card if from Lisa Jones.
Talking of foxes, have a look at this little plush fox from Astulabee available from ReformSchool (which, by the way, is a really nicely designed website!)
If you love the fox plush, check out this grizzly bear plush again from Astulabee at ReformSchool:
Lastly, bringing it back to jewellery... this rope and cube necklace comes from the UK-based Vamoose on Etsy and is perfect for those who appreciate simple jewellery. Visit Kathryn's beautiful and inspiring Blog / Website for more gorgeous and unusual jewellery.
That's all for now :)

Joanna Rutter: Fox necklace

I've written about the wonderful work of Joanna Rutter here before, when I bought the Little Chick necklace. Since then that necklace has scaresly left my neck and has been much admired. Last week I re-visited her shop and was really happy to find a little fox cub necklace. I ordered it and was surprised when it arrived the very next day. It is so perfect. I love it! I'm now giving the little chick necklace some time off for good behaviour while the fox cub necklace gets some attention! Haha. Already this weekend it has recieved lots of nice comments from people.
I really do love Joanna Rutter's jewellery. It's well made, beautifully designed, nicely packaged and it really feels like you have something a bit unique on when you're wearing it. I would highly recommend anyone to take a look at her shop, blog and website :)

Oh My Cavelier

Sometimes you find a style that instantly strikes a chord with you. Well, Oh My Cavelier did just that when I came across it on Etsy. The artist behind Oh My Cavelier is Julianna Swaney who lives and works in Portland, Oregon. Julianna lists victorian dresses, furry animals and beehives amongst her favourite things and often brings these elements into her art.
The foxes, bears, bees and wolves are quite simply perfect! I love their limbs - I know that sounds odd - but what I mean is I love the way Julianna represents a fox/wolf/bear leg as it might actually look - rather than in the childish way they are so often depicted.
My absolute favourite image is of a suspicious looking bear cluthing a beehive (first image below). These images look like they've jumped right from the pages of the sort of children's book you cherish in your memory as you grow up. I'm so excited to have purchased a couple of items from the Etsy shop - a bee brooch and a little rabbit card that will most probably end up framed and hung with my other arty buys.
