Shoegazer Creative: Fairy cakes!
One of my New Years Resolutions for 2010 was to learn to cook more, so where better to begin than with some good old fashioned fairy cakes? :) I had made them in the past but only as a child with a lot of help, so it was really good to make a batch last night and discover how simple they are to bake! Don't worry, this won't turn into a food blog (I don't 'get' food writing), I just thought I'd share these here because, well, who doesn't like a nice bit of cake?!

Shoegazer home: Prints
As I'm sure I have mentioned, I am hoping to move out with my boyfriend sometime soon and am currently in the process of collecting nice things for our first home together. An on going project has been collecting art prints and postcards to get framed and hang in a cluster. So far I have prints by Fifi Lapin, Little Doodles, Apak Studios, The Claudettes and Belle and Boo, as well as some vintage prints and book plates I have picked up on my travels. My most recently purcharse comes from the hand of Julia Pott (whose work can currently be seen on E4's Skins adverts). I couldn't resist these two bear-based prints. The first one is entitled.... "This is my boyfriend" (perfect title for it!) and the second is "Hello I love you."

Shoegazer loves: Bags + Birds = BAG LUST!
Oh my. I am in love with a bag again. And again, it's too expensive to own! Woe is me! But... but it's so perfect! It's the exact shade of leather bag I've been after AND it has the most adorable little birds acting as clasps. Oh Marc Jacobs... who knew you'd become my favourite bag pusher??
More affordable is the smaller grey version (£175 on Net A Porter). I can't really justify spending that much on a bag (where's a birthday when you need one??) so I found another way to satisfy my leather+bird cravings (see below). But first, let's all drool over this brilliantly birdy bag.
Rather than spend all the money I should be saving on a bag, I got this lovely belt by NW3 for Hobbs (via ASOS) instead. It has much the same vibe as the Marc by Marc Jacobs bags but is much much more affordable and I'll be able to add a touch of bird-love to many outfits....

Shoegazer finds: Key to my heart
Above: Valentines is coming! Whether you're in a relationship or single, it's a great time to pick up some cute / kitsch heart-themed swag. Here is my favourite find so far. This ceramic heart with key comes from Art Mind. For more of the same visit Art Mind's Etsy shop or Flickr photostream. I love how smooth it looks.
I'm keeping my peepers peeled for more Valentines goodies to share. If you have found something you love please share in the comments! x

Shoegazer finds: Bunting!
I can’t wait ‘til Summer and my mind has turned to all things bunting related! I’m currently working on a canvas featuring some tiny strings of bunting and decided to take a look around the web to see how other people are employing the good old-fashion staple of the English Village Fete in their work.
Below: This amazing necklace is by Scout Holiday and features hand painted leather flags thread on a 21” chain. I love it so much!

Below: This 2ft string of mini bunting flags is so cute. I really like the way it is displayed on the beautiful old desk. From Wunderlust on Etsy. The mix of old papers/fabrics works perfectly I think.
If you come across any bunting-related goodness please feel free to post links in the comments!

Shoegazer Haul!
Here are some things I've come into the posession of recently... mostly christmas presents or sales purchases. Enjoy! x
Above: Vivienne Westwood necklace from Mum and Dad. Gunmetal and gold. I love it so much!
Above: Cath Kidston sewing box with crafting scissors, mouse pin cushion and a needle case. A present from my brother.
Above: Notebooks. The 'Things To Make' one will be perfect as my new crafting ideas notebook!
Above: Vintage horse decoration found in a flea market in Brighton.
Above: Heaviest necklace ever!? I got this in Denmark. It's lots of plaited strands of black jersey fabric. It's like a scarf and necklace in one!
Above: I picked up this Marc by Marc Jacobs Owl Tote for half price in Liberty's sale <3
And just because I love her... Here is my little dog Lulu sticking her tongue out...
